About Ivormadom Parthasarathy Temple
The Ivormadom Parthasarathy Temple, located at Pampady near Thiruvilwamala on the banks of the Bharathapuzha (Nila River), is one of Kerala’s most sacred temples. Dedicated to Lord Sree Parthasarathy (Lord Krishna), the temple is a spiritual center for performing ancestral rites (Pithru Karmas) and seeking Moksha for departed souls.
According to legend, after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas performed the final rites of the warriors here under the guidance of Sage Vyasa and the blessings of Lord Krishna. As all five brothers (“Ivor” in Malayalam) built and worshipped here, the temple became known as Ivormadom, meaning “the abode of the five.”
Surrounded by the peaceful flow of the Nila and the divine aura of Parthasarathy, Ivormadom remains a timeless place of devotion, purification, and liberation.
